After the 2022 district reorganisation in Andhra Pradesh, the undivided Kurnool region was split into Kurnool and Nandyal districts. The present Kurnool district includes constituencies such as Kurnool, Panyam, Nandikotkur (SC), Kodumur (SC), Alur, Adoni, Yemmiganur, and Mantralayam. In the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections, the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance recorded a strong performance in the Kurnool region. Several key constituencies were won by alliance candidates, reflecting a shift in voter preference in Rayalaseema.
